Outline of a Farm Business Plan and Funding Request

Farm Landscape
  • The focus of the narrative is to substantiate “The Ask”: How much money the company needs, specifically what kinds of money, and for what purpose.
  • Have the client do this last and expect the client to need coaching to make it effective.
  • Bullet points are fine. The goal is 5 pages to make it fast and easy for the underwriter or investor to read. The text should be very quantitative. Works well as a companion to the pitch deck.
  • While the sections of this document are similar to a business plan, this is NOT a business plan. Think of all of the contents of the drop box as the full business plan. This is a specific ask for money for a specific project.
  • Make sure that all of the numbers are the same as the ones in the Proforma.
  • Where a conventional equity raise is happening, the client should develop a two page Executive Summary from this document that can be shared with potential investors. This is the teaser that gets potential investors to sign and NDA so they can learn more.
