Level 2 builds on our Level 1 Consultant Training* by helping participants navigate the process of raising appropriate debt, strategic investments, and equity investments. 

*Level 1 is a prerequisite for our Level 2 Consultant Training.

Level 2 Focuses On

  • Financial statements and food business financial metrics
  • The proforma: review a process of putting client financial packages together to aid in raising money
  • Using case studies to provide examples of what funding requests could look like across various business models
  • Putting it all together: Analyzing a proforma and Sources and Uses of capital

Level 2 Goals and Objectives

After our training you should have the tools, templates, and resources to enable you to better:

  • understand financial statements and food business financial metrics
  • work with your client and their data to create a financial package for their business
  • know what potential funding paths are available to various food business models
  • optimize your clients capital structure for profitability

About The Trainer

DeLuca has engaged in over $10 million in funding decisions benefiting working lands enterprises since 2010 and serves on the national Food Systems Finance Advisory Council of the Council of Development Finance Agencies. For three years he led the Slow Money VT network catalyzing impact investment in the food system asset class, as well as the Financing Crosscutting Team of the VT Farm to Plate Network. He co-founded the University of Vermont Food Hub Management Professional Certificate program, the first of its kind in the country. DeLuca managed the U.S. Program for the UN-declared International Year of Cooperatives. He guided the development of the Neighboring Food Co-op Association—now a network of over 35 food co-ops in New England and NY State with $90 million sales of local products annually. Principal of Leverage Point Consulting and previous vice-chair of the Vermont Working Lands Enterprise Board.
